The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that NEET UG 2026 will be conducted on May 4, 2026 (Sunday) in offline mode (pen-and-paper) across 540 examination cities in India and 14 cities abroad. Over 23.4 lakh candidates have registered for the examination, the highest ever.

City intimation slips have been released on neet.ntaonline.in. Candidates must download their city slip immediately to know their exam centre city. Admit cards will be released on April 29, 2026 and must be printed and brought to the examination centre.

NEET UG 2026 tests Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany + Zoology) for 720 total marks. The exam duration is 3 hours 20 minutes. A penalty of 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.

This year, NTA has implemented enhanced anti-paper-leak security measures including QR-code based question paper delivery, real-time invigilator monitoring and two-factor biometric authentication of candidates. These measures follow the controversy surrounding NEET UG 2024.

Approximately 1.08 lakh MBBS seats across 706 medical colleges, 27,868 BDS seats, and 52,720 AYUSH seats are filled through NEET UG scores. The expected cut-off for MBBS General category (50th percentile) is 720-710 marks.
