Harper's Bazaar India chose Disha Patani for its landmark 2026 spring issue, and the result is a visual document of an artist fully in command of her image. Shot across four days in the Maldives and two in Mumbai, the 16-frame editorial is the magazine's most-shared feature since its digital edition launched.

The Maldives segment — shot on an uninhabited atoll accessible only by seaplane — used only natural light and a crew of nine, a deliberate choice by photographer Tarun Khiwal to strip the imagery down to its essentials: ocean, sky, Disha, and silence.

Back in Mumbai, the register shifts entirely. Against the brutalist architecture of a reclaimed mill district, Disha wears a series of pieces from the new generation of Indian designers — Rahul Mishra, Tarun Tahiliani and Gaurav Gupta — that position her as the embodiment of a new Indian luxury aesthetic.

The shoot required Disha to sustain a physical and emotional range across six days that few models could match — from the serene stillness required on water to the charged, kinetic energy of the urban frames. Every image landed.

The full editorial appears in the April 2026 issue of Harper's Bazaar India, and select prints from the shoot will be exhibited at the Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai from May 15.
