On March 18, 2026, Rahu (the North Node of the Moon) entered Pisces (Meena Rashi) while Ketu (South Node) simultaneously transited into Virgo (Kanya Rashi) — completing an 18-year cycle from the last Rahu-in-Pisces period of 2007-08. This transit, which will last until September 2027, is considered one of the most significant planetary shifts in Vedic astrology.
For India — whose independence chart (August 15, 1947) has the Moon in Cancer and Jupiter in Scorpio — this Rahu transit activates the 9th house of fortune, higher learning, dharma and international relations. Vedic astrologers interpret this as a period when India's "dharmic mission" on the world stage will be prominently amplified.
Economically, the period of Rahu in Pisces historically correlates with sectors connected to water, oil, spirituality, pharmaceuticals and international trade experiencing boom periods. India's pharmaceutical exports, marine sector and yoga/wellness industry are expected to particularly benefit from this 18-month transit.
Rahu in Pisces also heightens spiritual seeking and religious activities at the national level. The upcoming Maha Kumbh's continued influence and the boom in pilgrimage tourism to Ayodhya, Varanasi, Tirupati and Kedarnath align with this transit's spiritual emphasis.
However, experts caution that Ketu in Virgo brings disruptions to health systems, public service delivery and daily routines. "There will be tests to India's public health infrastructure and bureaucratic efficiency," says Acharya Dr. Upadhyay. "The government must invest in healthcare and food security during this period."
