The official teaser for Jawan 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2023 blockbuster, was dropped at midnight to a delirious response from fans, crossing 50 million YouTube views in just six hours — the fastest an Indian film teaser has ever reached that milestone. Shah Rukh Khan returns as Vikram Rathore, the RAW agent whose story was left unresolved at the end of the first film.
The 2-minute 40-second teaser opens in a classified government facility, with a greying, battle-scarred Rathore assembling a new team for what appears to be a mission in multiple countries. Quick cuts show action sequences filmed in Istanbul, Baku and Cape Town. The tone is noticeably darker than the first film, with director Atlee signalling a more grounded, thriller-focused narrative.
Five things to know about Jawan 2: The film introduces a new antagonist played by Hrithik Roshan in what insiders confirm is an extended cameo. Deepika Padukone reprises her role as Dr. Narmada. The action sequences were shot with six stunt coordinators from South Korea, Hong Kong and the UK. The film is set 3 years after the events of Jawan. The runtime is reportedly 2 hours 55 minutes.
Producer Red Chillies Entertainment confirmed that Jawan 2 will release globally on June 26, 2026, in IMAX, 4DX, Dolby Cinema and standard formats. Pre-booking is expected to open April 15. The film has already sold production rights to Netflix for Rs 450 crore, the highest ever for an Indian film.
The teaser has already generated over Rs 80 crore worth of trending media value across platforms, according to entertainment analytics firm Ormax Media. #Jawan2 trended at number 1 in 14 countries simultaneously.
