The teaser of Jawan 2 — the highly anticipated sequel to Atlee's 2023 blockbuster — dropped on Saturday afternoon and immediately went viral, accumulating 180 million views in 12 hours on YouTube and becoming the most-viewed Indian movie teaser in history.

The 2-minute, 14-second teaser shows Shah Rukh Khan in a grizzled, more intense avatar as Azad, the RAW agent, across action sequences shot in India, Morocco, Tokyo and what appears to be a submarine in the Pacific Ocean. The teaser ends with Azad facing a mysterious figure who appears to be his nemesis from the first film.

Director Atlee said the film will "pick up 5 years after the events of Jawan" and will have a "significantly larger scale, global stakes and a villainous threat that India has never faced before." The film went on floors in January 2026 and is scheduled to release on Diwali, October 2026.

The female lead has not been revealed in the teaser, with Atlee confirming only that "a major international star" will feature alongside Deepika Padukone who reprises her role from the original. Speculation is rife about the identity of the new actress.

Trade analysts predict Jawan 2 will open to a Rs 300-350 crore worldwide gross in its opening weekend — well above the original Jawan's Rs 265 crore opening — making it one of the most anticipated films in Indian cinema history.

SRK, at the teaser launch event in Mumbai attended by 3,000 fans, said: "Azad is back, but this time the mission is personal. What began in Jawan was just a chapter. The real story starts now." He received a thunderous 5-minute standing ovation from the audience.
